This is my old and dear super zoom lens. I use it with my film camera is often in the past. I recently tested the Canon version of this lens using my Canon 5D Mark II DSLR Full Frame. Tamron 28-200mm is also available for Sony, Pentax, and Nikon mounts.
lens is riding on the popularity of Full Frame DSLR camera. As I find awkward focal length for shooting with cropped sensor camera, I rarely use this combination.
an inexpensive and lightweight lens feels just right, when used on Canon EOS 5D Mark II. It is sharp and suitable for use as a travel or general purpose lens for all levels of photographers.
I certainly would recommend this lens to all photographers who use a Full Frame camera and is looking for a super zoom.
This is a fast and precise autofocus. Surprisingly, not loud at all, unlike other budget Tamron lenses. However, due to its small aperture, the far end, I often had to switch to manual mode in low light to prevent focus hunting.
My laboratory and field examination showed that the sharpness in the center and border sharpness are both excellent.
In a further Tamron 28-200mm review, I discovered that there is very small to negligible barrel distortion and chromatic aberration.
I'd recommend this lens for travel or general purpose photography. However, I would not recommend this lens for professional work because of their small holes in the telephoto end.
